The university moves up from 85th place to 73rd in the latest global ranking by Times Higher Education.

In its 2021 global ranking, Times Higher Education has placed Université de Montréal 73rd in the world.

The British-based organization evaluated more than 1,500 universities based on data relating to teaching, research, links with industry, reputation and international reach.

Université de Montréal significantly improved its position from the previous year, when it was ranked 85th. This improvement is primarily due to the excellence of its researchers, whose reputation is spreading around the world, and to the mobilization of knowledge.

For the university's rector, this improved ranking is a reminder of Université de Montréal's place among the best.

"In all the established rankings, Université de Montréal is among the best universities in the world and stands out as one of the top-performing French-language universities," said Daniel Jutras.

"This is a source of pride but also a reminder of our contribution to the advancement of ideas in all fields. I would like to extend my warmest thanks and congratulations to our entire research community, which is surpassing itself and spreading the name of Montreal around the globe."
