UdeM has been awarded 19 Canada Research Chairs, including 7 new ones, testifying to the University’s excellence in a range of fields.

Université de Montréal has been granted 19 of the research chairs submitted as part of the April 2022 and October 2022 Canada Research Chair Program competitions. The chairs are a testament to the University’s research excellence in a variety of fields.

The main goal of the Canada Research Chair Program is to attract and retain the very best researchers. The Chairs were granted in research fields in which Université de Montréal excels.

UdeM’s 7 new Canada Research Chairs are:

Anne Crocker, a full professor in the Faculty of Medicine’s Department of Psychiatry and Addiction and in the Faculty of Arts and Science’s School of Criminology. Canada Research Chair in Mental Health, Justice and Safety (Tier 1)

Sylvana Côté, full professor in the School of Public Health’s Department of Social and Preventive Medicine. Canada Research Chair in the Prevention of Childhood Psychosocial and Learning Difficulties (Tier 1)

Morgan Craig, assistant professor in the Faculty of Arts and Science’s Department of Mathematics and Statistics. Canada Research Chair in Computational Immunology (Tier 2)

René Doyon, full professor in the Faculty of Arts and Science’s Department of Physics. Canada Research Chair in Experimental Astrophysics and Exoplanetary Science (Tier 1)

Becket Ebitz, assistant professor in the Faculty of Medicine’s Department of Neurosciences. Canada Research Chair in Cognitive Dynamics (Tier 2)

Jian-Yun Nie, full professor in the Faculty of Arts and Science’s Department of Computer Science and Operations Research. Canada Research Chair in Data Processing and Natural Language Applications (Tier 1)

Annie Pullen Sansfaçon, full professor in the Faculty of Arts and Science’s School of Social Work. RePair Canada Research Chair: Partner Research and the Empowerment of At-Risk Youth (advanced to Tier 1)
