Filming on campus

Several shoots of various kinds take place each week on the UdeM campus. In order to ensure the most harmonious coexistence possible between users of our buildings and film crews, the latter must obtain prior filming authorization.

Filming at Université de Montréal

Any given week, a variety of shoots – for TV, film, advertising and more – take place on Université de Montréal's campuses. To ensure things run smoothly, all camera crews must first obtain a permit from us to shoot. Here's how it works:

Journalists and documentary filmmakers reporting on UdeM or wishing to film an interview with a member of the university in a public area of one of our buildings are asked to contact our media relations team.

Please note that filming in a professor's office or laboratory does not require any authorization other than that of the person concerned.

Members of the university community and external production companies wishing to film at UdeM must request authorization from our Direction des immeubles (DI) by completing an online reservation form (in French). Details of the shoot must be provided in the “Autres particularités” field: for example, if the filming is part of a course, say so and provide the course number; if it's a personal initiative, give a brief description. To learn more, you can reach the DI team anytime by e-mail or by phone at 514-343-6346.
