Compliance 

Université de Montréal (UdeM) is committed to the issue of content accessibility on its websites and undertakes to continuously promote and improve the accessibility of its websites in order to facilitate consultation by any person, disabled or not. This site complies with Quebec's SGQRI 008 3.0 accessibility standard for websites.

Programming and technologies 

This site uses HTML5 markup language and JavaScript programming language, and uses style sheets (CSS) to separate content from presentation. It was developed using the Typo3 content management system.

Main provisions

  • Pages and menus are structured using hierarchical reading levels.
  • Pages and documents have titles describing their function or purpose.
  • Titles appear in the browser tab and identify the page when it is added to bookmarks or when it appears in search engine results.
  • Menus are used consistently and uniformly across all pages of the site.
  • Links, buttons, images and other components are labeled consistently and precisely.
  • The use of tables in the site layout is limited.
  • Where possible, informative images (i.e. non-decorative) are accompanied by alternative text.
  • Animations do not use any light fluctuation or flashing more frequently than three times per second.
  • Colour contrasts between text and background comply with Level AA and have a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 (or 3:1 for large text).

Navigation

  • Navigation mechanisms are consistent throughout the site.
  • The site's main menu is usable without JavaScript and is marked up using list elements.
  • Navigation through the site can be done using the cursor keys (arrows) or the keyboard tab key.
  • No page refresh or context change is done automatically (without user action).
  • This site does not include any keyboard shortcuts.
